Mumu was brought to Bamboo School in January 2015 after her father killed her mother in a drunken rage. She is an eight year old twin to Bor Kwar. She cut her hair off to look like a boy, as she didn’t want to be separated from her brother. ( I was fooled for the first day). She will start her new schooling at Bong Ti Bonn in Grade 1. Soy Fah was abandoned in the toilet pan at birth, on June 16, 2013. Neighbors discovered her some hours later, and we took her to the hospital. The high level of infection caused cataracts and cornea scarring, leaving her blind. Ipswich Rotary Club sponsored surgery to repair her left eye, and further surgery is scheduled.

Cherthapwee arrived in Bong Ti with a group of refugees in 2005. He arrived the day his grandfather died, so he was given to us by the village people. His parents both died from malaria, and he had thalaseemia major. His spleen has been removed, and life expectancy is short. He is progressing through school, but has time sick. He has recently decided to try working for this year.

Hey-gway-moo comes from a village across the border. After Cyclone Neges hit Burma in 2007, his family was forced to relocate to the mountainous region. The new area was thick jungle without schooling nor medical help. The village had a big outbreak of Malaria in April 2011, so they came for medical help. Heygwaymoo stayed on for school. Johann was born to a prostitute, by a Thai soldier. The husband was in the refugee camp, unaware. She abandoned him at Bamboo School, leaving him blind, deaf and with cerebral palsy.
